ACTIS, Andrea; CROCI, Máximo  e  BERGOC, Rosa. Pharmacological effects of cAMP analogue on mice uteri: Therapeutical considerations. Acta bioquím. clín. latinoam. [online]. 2005, vol.39, n.2, pp.197-202. ISSN 0325-2957.

The use of different combinations of drugs, among them adenosine-3',5'-monofosfate cyclic analogues, has expanded the search for therapeutical alternatives to treat breast cancer. From a current existing wide variety, the 8-chloro-adenosine-3',5'-monophosphate (8-Cl-cAMP) is the most employed and at present, it is in phase II of clinical studies. This paper analizes the effect of this compound alone or in combination with other agents on mouse uterus. From a current at experimental stage. In order to achieve this 8-Cl-cAMP, tamoxifen (Tam) and medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA), alone or combined were administered to Balb/c mice. It was found that 8-Cl-cAMP diminished uterus weight but did not modify significantly its histopathology or the estral cycle; Tam diminished uterus weight showing cystic hyperplasia and estral cycle arrested at diestrus; MPA treatment produced the increase of uteri weight, caused an endometrium edematization and a pseudopregnancy estral cycle. When combined with 8-Cl-cAMP, Tam or MPA always had the predominant effect. The importance studying the effect of the combination of antineoplastic drugs on non-transformed target-tissues, is highlighted even if transductional pathways of action are different.
