The present commentary, which was written by virtue of the national government decree that designated 2021 as the year of the tribute to Dr. César Milstein, is a personal vision of the meaning of the development of monoclonal antibodies, of the contribution that he has always made to the current science and technology, and of the context of the corresponding Nobel Prize within the sphere of Immunology and the Medical Sciences. The aim of this article is to share, as a tribute, some of my experiences in the specialty and my professional and personal relationship with the creator of the immense breakthrough still being delivered by his development.
