In recent decades, a renewed interest in the study of the State from different research approaches has resulted in a number of investigations on state agencies, the track record of public officers, and the production of knowledge by the state. Although most of the literature focuses on the national level, there are studies that analyze events at the sub-national level as well. In this context, we will review the institutional development of the Department of Agriculture in the province of Entre Ríos between 1915 and 1930. Through the study of the operation of this state agency and the measures it implemented, we were able to detect the roleof the provincial State in bolstering the expansion of agricultural cooperativism and the promotion of agro-technical education.Weadopt a qualitative methodology that takes into account the insights of the New History of the State.The corpus is composed of news articles, reports from the Ministry of Government, messages from governors, and fiscal budget laws.
