MARSCHOFF, María. FROM ESTECO TO CÓRDOBA AND BACK AGAIN: MOBILITIES AND RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN TWO COLONIAL CITIES (1576-1678). Folia [online]. 2021, n.41, pp.7-32. ISSN 0325-8238. http://dx.doi.org/10.30972/fhn.0415157.
This paper analyzes some of the several mobilities found in the colonization process of the Gobernación del Tucumán, Argentina. The study of its scales, particularities, rhythms and intensities, as well as the experiences they entailed, shows how mobilities impact the growth and structure of places. The case is based on Nuestra Señora de Talavera or Esteco, a city founded in 1566 in the southeast of what is today the Province of Salta, due to its highly mobile population and the interrelation between its inhabitants and those of the city of Córdoba. Based on the examination of deeds notarized in Córdoba, it is possible to study the different types of such interrelations, the way they were established and how they changed from 1576 to 1678.
