Abstract

It is the purpose of this article to present and give a definition of the Islamic jihad within the conceptual framework of classical Islam from the seventh to the thirteenth centuries. It hopes to establish the extent, limits and meaning of this concept in relation to sacrifice in the classical Muslim theory.
