Abstract

HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ, Alfonso. ¿Milagros o virtudes monásticas?: Odón de Cluny y la tensión entre dos modelos de santidad en un contexto apocalíptico. Temas Mediev. [online]. 2007, vol.15. ISSN 0327-5094.

At the start of the  tenth century Odo of Cluny wrote the biography of count Gerard  of Aurillac, a Carolingian nobleman who had died  at the end of the previous century. The text outlines a model of holiness for laymen -noblemen- which combines life in this world while obeying at the same time an ethic based on monastic principles. The purpose of the article is to point out relationships between lay holiness of monastic inspiration with possible apocalyptical fear.

Keywords : Odo of Cluny; Gerard of Aurillac; Holiness; Apocalypse.
