Resumen

PROVVIDENTE, Sebastián. Temas mediev. [online]. 2009, vol.17, pp.103-138. ISSN 0327-5094.

The causa John Hus has generally been examined from the angle of how at different moments Hus redefined his attitude towards the ecclesiastical authorities. It is the opinion of the author of this article that not sufficient attention has been devoted to the question of how the council of Constance (1414-1418) redefined its own role within the hierarchical Church structure in its juridical procedures. In the course of the council the attempt to link the persecution of heresy to a redefinition of the role of the council within the ordo iudiciarius becomes particularly significant in view of the extent in which the authority of the council is defined in the decree Haec Sancta Synodus which generated many consequences for the causa fidei, and in turn caused a specific tempo during the trial of John Hus.

Palabras clave : John Hus; Council of Constance; Trial; Ordo iuris.
