The purpose of the article is to show how incest appears in the text of the Manekine in three successive and parallel scenes which describe three repeated irruptions into the princess' room. If attention is devoted to the way the story looks upon this theme, we can verify the manner in which a form of conduct which is condemned by the Christian ideology as being sinful and aberrant, namely the incestuous relationship between father and daughter, is justified. In thus fashion the Roman discloses a debate that developed in the thirteenth century medieval society on new ideas related to marriage and consanguinity.
