Abstract

IOMMI ECHEVERRIA, Virginia. El concepto de aire en el Consilio contro la pestilentia de Marsilio Ficino (1478-1479). Temas mediev. [online]. 2010, vol.18, pp.121-135. ISSN 0327-5094.

This article examines the notion of air sustained by Marsilio Ficino in his Consilio contra la pestilental, written after the epidemic of plague which ravaged Florence in 1478 and 1479. The author of the article's purpose is to trace the main ideas which appear in Ficino's work that may point to the sources that inspired him. Some parts of the Consilio lead the author to analyze Ficino's complex idea of purity of the air which in turn is related to Plato's idea appearing in the Timaeus as well as being connected to the classical Hippocratic medicine.

Keywords : Air; Medicine; Marsilio Ficino; Plague.
