Resumen
BUITRON-JURADO, Galo y TOBAR, Marcelo. Possible association between the squirrel Microsciurus flaviventer and mixed-species flocks in Ecuadorian Amazonia. Mastozool. neotrop. [online]. 2007, vol.14, n.2, pp.235-240. ISSN 0327-9383.
These associations were principally observed at the morning between 7:00-8:00 hs. The squirrel's memberships at flocks were occasional (19 records out of n = 220 observations), and they followed the flocks for an average time of 21, 58 ± 20, 2 min. M. flaviventer actively searched insects at 2- 10 m of height at the forest in company of the birds. Our results present evidence of the association between squirrels and birds in the Neotropics and they are compared with similar associations found in the Southeast of Asia.
