Resumen
GARCIA-MARMOLEJO, Gabriela; ESCALANTE, Tania y MORRONE, Juan J.. Conservation priorities for the conservation of Neotropical land mammals from Mexico. Mastozool. neotrop. [online]. 2008, vol.15, n.1, pp.41-65. ISSN 0327-9383.
are proposed, applying panbiogeographic and complementarity methods. Distributional patterns of 97 Mexican land mammal species of Neotropical affinities were compared. The panbiogeographic analysis allowed to identify eight generalized tracks and 16 nodes in eight biogeographic provinces of the Neotropical region and the Mexican Transition Zone (Mexican Pacific Coast, Mexican Gulf, Yucatan Peninsula, Chiapas, Sierra Madre del Sur, Sierra Madre Oriental, Transmexican Volcanic Belt, and Balsas Basin), which correspond to the most important areas in terms of endemic species and richness for mammals in the country. Nodes were prioritized according to their complementarity and phylogenetic diversity, and six were found to have priority over the others. These nodes coincide with Prioritary Terrestrial Regions (RTP), implying that they are also important for other taxa.
