Abstract

AGNOLIN, Federico L.; LUCERO, Sergio O.  and  BOGAN, Sergio. The presence of Galea musteloides Meyen, 1833 (Rodentia, Caviidae) in Santa Cruz, Argentina. Mastozool. neotrop. [online]. 2008, vol.15, n.1, pp.113-115. ISSN 0327-9383.

The presence of Galea musteloides approximately at 20 km north of Caleta Olivia (Santa Cruz province, Argentina; 46º 16' 06.6" S y 67º 37' 55.3" W) is reported. The material consists of a single adult female referable to the subspecies G. m. littoralis. The present report extends the geographic range of the genus 500 kilometers to the south, and represents the third record for G. musteloides in the Patagonian Phytogeographic Province.
