Abstract

ASPRILLA-PEREA, Jeferson; LOPEZ-PEREA, Jhon J.; VIVEROS-RIVEROS, Jhofes A.  and  JIMENEZ-ORTEGA, Alex M.. Relationship between relative abundance and use of Cuniculus paca (guagua, tepezcuintle) in black communitits of the Atrato river basin, Colombia. Mastozool. neotrop. [online]. 2011, vol.18, n.2, pp.301-306. ISSN 0327-9383.

We assessed the relationship between relative abundance and the use of Cuniculus paca that the black communities of the river Atrato (Colombia) give to this species. The relative abundance was measured using the indirect method of counting tracks along transects and the pattern of use through surveys and discussions with key community informants. We found no statistically significant relationship between the relative abundance and number of hunters, nor between this and harvest values per month.
