Abstract

GARCIA, Franger J et al. New record of ichthyomys pittieri (Rodentia: Cricetidae) from the Cordillera de la Costa Central, Venezuela with notes on its natural history and distribution. Mastozool. neotrop. [online]. 2012, vol.19, n.2, pp.163-178. ISSN 0327-9383.

Ichthyomys pittieri (Rodentia: Cricetidae) was described in 1963 from the Cordillera de la Costa Central in Venezuela. It is endemic to Venezuela, and its range is poorly documented. Here, we report a new record of I. pittieri from Yurubí National Park, Yaracuy State, confirming its presence for this area. We add natural history data for this rodent, together with some physical, chemical, and environmental parameters of a stream where it was captured in submontane forest (800 m). Finally, we report several measurements, and we update the known distribution.

Keywords : Ichthyomys pittieri; Rodentia; Sierra de Aroa; Yaracuy; Yurubí National Park.
