Resumen

BARRI, Fernando R  y  CUFRE, Melina. Supervivencia de guanacos (Lama guanicoe) reintroducidos con y sin período de preadapatación en el parque nacional Quebrada del Condorito, Córdoba, Argentina. Mastozool. neotrop. [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.1, pp.09-16. ISSN 0327-9383.

The Quebrada del Condorito national park is located in the upper belt of the hills of central Argentina. After the creation of the protected area livestock were gradually removed to avoid soil loss and degradation due to overgrazing in this fragile ecosystem. However, the lack of a large-scale herbivory allowed the expansion of tussock grasslands on the native grassland. In 2007, 113 guanacos (Lama guanicoe), were released in the park without a pre-adaptation period, while in 2011-2012 a total of 25 individuals were released after passing a pre-adaptation period. Survival rates between the two methods were compared, both after the critical post-release period (4 weeks) and between this period and the year since the individuals were released. The results showed that after the critical post-release period the survival was significantly higher for the guanacos who passed a pre-adaptation period, and those individuals who survived, showed no difference in the percentage of survival up to the year after released. Therefore, it is recommended that future guanacos releases should be made after individuals pass a pre-adaptation period
