Abstract

LIEVANO-LATORRE, Luisa F  and  LOPEZ-AREVALO, Hugo F. Nuevo registro de Olallamys albicaudus (Günther, 1879) en la cordillera oriental colombiana con notas sobre su distribución. Mastozool. neotrop. [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.2, pp.391-396. ISSN 0327-9383.

The rodent Olallamys albicaudus (Echimyidae) is an endemic species of the Colombian Andes, for which there is very limited ecological and distributional information. In 2012, we recorded the species in the western side of the Eastern Colombian Andes (Tabio, Cundinamarca) using method camera traps. This observation extends our knowledge of the distribution of this species and highlights the usefulness of camera trapping to study rarely documented mammals. Additionally, we reviewed previous reports and collections of O. albicaudus in literature to obtain an updated distribution for this species.

Keywords : Andes; Colombia; Photo-trapping; Tabio.
