At the end of the classical age the condition of life of the Athenian citizens have changed considerably. This paper is an attempt to establish the way of conciliating the material and daily needs of the philosophers of the two most important philosophical schools at this age, Stoic and Epicurean, with the ethical precepts of its different philosophical systems.
