The Aeschylus' theatre, after a spur of analysis under the German view in the mid-XX century, seemed to have gone by overlooked to critical eyes later on. Nowadays, due to new currents that privileged the study of theatrical performance, the work of the poet is under analysis from a renewed standpoint that absorbs and transcends a debate exclusively philological. Among the preserved tragedies from the Classical Antiquity, Persians stands out not only as the first complete testimony of the genre, but also as a unique piece with a historical issue we possess. Ascribing to the framework offered by the latest critic trends, from a philological- literary analysis of the Parodos (vv 1-154), in the present work we would like to see how the poet builds the image of the barbarian confronted to that of the Greek, bearing in mind that the piece, which offers the Persian view about the battle of Salamis, was conceived by an Athenian for an Athenian audience. History and literary manifestation converge, thus, in a tragedy that reveals the thought and greatness of its creator.
