Abstract

NELLI, María Florencia. Hegemón y strategós en Áyax de Sófocles. Synthesis (La Plata) [online]. 2003, vol.10, pp.91-108. ISSN 0328-1205.

It is possible to identify in the tragedy Ajax of Sophocles the employ of certain particular terms used to refer to the political power and the relationships of power among the men that constitute a mean for which the author of the drama carries out the historicization and upgrade of the inherited myth of the Homeric epic cycle. The mechanism of historicization of the myth through linguistic manipulation leads to the tragic "democratization" of the Homeric and it allows the setting in scene of a political debate in contemporary terms to the spectator of the tragedy. Starting from the analysis of the appearances of the word and other related terms, as well as of the occurrences of the term , the present work intends a reading that interprets the presence of the political hegemony as the main point of the tragedy.

Keywords : Tragedy; Politics; ; ; Ajax.
