Abstract
NELLI, María Florencia. El mito de Heracles en Baquílides: Su relevancia para el análisis de Traquinias de Sófocles. Synthesis (La Plata) [online]. 2006, vol.13, pp.79-93. ISSN 0328-1205.
The myth of Heracles in Bacchylides' poems is not extremely profuse. Still, it is definitely worth looking at. Dithyramb 16 has been traditionally regarded as the most significant of Bacchylides' poems concerning Heracles' myth. This ode has been even pointed out as a source for Sophocles' Trachiniae. However, a close analysis of some of Bacchylides' victory odes proves that his most striking influence is not as much related to the dithyramb as it is to the epinicia. Epinicia V, IX and XIII and a couple of fragments represent an amazing source of originality, not only in themes, but also in structure. It is our aim to study them in relation to Sophocles' Trachiniae, so as to identify their influence on the tragedy.
