Abstract

BRUSAU, E.V. et al. Vibrational and thermal study of hexaaquatris(malonato)dieuropium(III) dihydrate. An. Asoc. Quím. Argent. [online]. 2004, vol.92, n.1-3, pp.43-52. ISSN 0365-0375.

The vibrational spectra (FTIR-Raman) of the hexaaquatris(malonato)dieuropium(III) dihydrate are reported and discussed. An assignment of H2O, CH2 and OCO modes in the complex is proposed on the basis of the structural data previously reported. Valuable information about the water librational modes has been obtained. The different types of interaction between the carboxylate groups of the malonate ions and Eu(III), four- and six-membered chelate rings and monodentate bridging interactions, have been also evidenced. The mechanism of the thermal dehydration is aalysed and the results are in agreement with the crystal structure.
