Abstract

REFAT, M.S; SADEEK, S.A  and  TELEB, S.M.. Reactions of urea with oxides of Mo(VI), V(V) and Se(IV), at high temperature. An. Asoc. Quím. Argent. [online]. 2004, vol.92, n.4-6, pp.23-29. ISSN 0365-0375.

The molybdenum(VI) nitrate salt, [V2(O)4(OH)(NH2)] complex and selenium metal were obtained by a new reaction of urea with MoO3, V2O5 and SeO2, respectively, in aqueous media at ~90ºC. The solids formed Mo(NO3)6, [V2(O)4(OH)(NH2)] and Se metal were characterized through elemental analysis and infrared spectroscopy. Thermo- gravimetric(TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) measurements of the Mo(NO3)6 salt and the [V2(O)4(OH)(NH2)] complex, along with the infrared spectra of the final decomposition products were also recorded. The data obtained are in agreement with the detected structures and shows that the Mo(NO3)6salt and the [V2(O)4(OH)(NH2)] complex were decomposed to form MoO3 and V2O5.
