ABSTRACT. The history of classifications of insects is revised from its relationships within Arthropoda (e.g., Unirramia, Mandibulata, Atelocerata, Pancrustacea) and major supraordinal groups (e.g., Hexapoda, Insecta, Entognatha, Ectognatha, Dicondylia, Apterygota, Pterygota, Paleoptera, Neoptera). Main kinds of characters and phylogenetic schemes are considered.
