Last instar larvae and pupae of Protoptila dubitans Mosely, 1939 and P. misionensis Flint, 1972 are described for the first time. They are compared to those of other described species. The diagnostic characters of the larvae are: coloration of sclerites; areas with setae on the pro-, meso- and metanotum; size and shape of sclerites of the meso- and metanotum; setal distribution on the urites. The characters studied of pupae are: chaetotaxy of labrum; mandibles, and hooks on the urotergites.
