Abstract

LOPEZ, Silvia N.  and  EVANS, Gregory A.. New records of species of the genus Eretmocerus (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae), parasitoids of Trialeurodes vaporariorum and Bemisia tabaci complex (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) in Argentina. Rev. Soc. Entomol. Argent. [online]. 2008, vol.67, n.1-2, pp.185-187. ISSN 0373-5680.

The objective of this paper is to report new records of species of the genus Eretmocerus Haldeman, parasitoids of the most important whitefly pest species in vegetables and ornamental crops in Argentina. One species was found parasitizing Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) in Santa Fe and Buenos Aires provinces and it is grouped into californicus group near corni Haldeman, due to its morphological characters. It could be a new species. The known distribution of Eretmocerus mundus Mercet, a parasitoid of Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius), is enlarged to include the provinces of San Juan and Buenos Aires of Argentina.

Keywords : Eretmocerus spp; Whiteflies; Biological control.
