Resumen

ALVAREZ VALLEJOS, Rolando. El Plan Laboral y la negociación colectiva: ¿origen de un nuevo sindicalismo en Chile? 1979-1985. Bol. Inst. Hist. Argent. Am. Dr. Emilio Ravignani [online]. 2012, n.35-36, pp.107-137. ISSN 0524-9767.

The military regime headed in Chile by General Augusto Pinochet developed systematically repressive politics towards his opponents. Nevertheless, this regime did not built up its length only on that politics, but also developed strategies which tried to get him popular support. Regarding the trade union movement, after the failing of his attempts to co-opt his leaders, the government settled up a legislation which sought to override their power. Through the so-called "Plan Laboral", the military regime was successful in setting up a neoliberal legislation, which reduced drastically the negotiating power of trade unions. These unions, also weakened by repression, did not have the choice to skip these laws; so, the military regime could appease to a large degree the once powerful Chilean trade unions.

Palabras clave : Military dictatorship; Labour legislation; Neoliberalism; Union movement; Strike.
