The article analyzes the transformations and conflicts developed within the departmental leadership of the Unión Cívica Radical of Tucumán during the period of emergency and consolidation of peronism. It argues that the electoral defeat suffered by the radicalism in 1946 and the internal crisis unleashed as a corollary of this had as a correlate the party's refunctionalization, reflected in a change in the organizational structure and a leadership replacement. This process, developed in the late forties, defined the decline of the staff that came from the political order previous to the coup d´etat of 1943 and undermined the traditional federative structure of the radicalism.
