Abstract

This article examines the experience of the First Book Fair organized by the Cámara Argentina del Libro in 1943. This cultural, business and political event was held in a strategic space in the urban grid of Buenos Aires and was visited by more than two million people. The relevance of this case lies in the links that can be observed between cultural products and the world of interwar politics. This sociocultural study of politics incorporates categories and theoretical developments from different disciplines, and produces empirical data using different techniques such as documentary, discourse and photographic analysis of the historical event.
