Resumo

This paper deals with the Althusserian proposal about Ideological State Apparatuses, which is considered by its critics a reproduction theory. According to some of Althusser'scritics, by making the educational system a Ideological State Apparatus, he denies that the dominated can offer resistance to the reproduction of the dominant ideology. Regarding this point, we will try to show that the French philosopher does not impugn the fact that there is struggle and conflict in Ideological State.
Apparatuses, but points out that the capitalist character of the State is reflected in its institutional armor, which limits the possibility of being appropriated by the dominated classes and used for other purposes. This leads him to say that the material framework of the State, which includes the educational system, is separated from class struggle in order to intervene it more efficiently. In turn, this point leads Althusser to reject the perspective that makes the State a material condensation of relations of force between classes and emphasize that the institutional order is adapted to the function that State fulfills.
