Resumen

BERNADO, Rolando GARCÍA. Internationalization and the agrarian question. An analysis of the theories on internationalization in global agriculture and its impact on national class structures. Trab. soc. [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.34, pp.201-210. ISSN 1514-6871.

In the following article we analyze some relevant theories in agrarian economics and rural sociology in the approach to the internationalization of capital in agriculture in its link with the class structures associated with the production of agrarian goods. We focus on what we call the "agribusiness approach", which we expose together with a series of critics both to the central notion of agribusiness and to the theoretical-methodological derivatives of that terminology. Then we proceed to a revision of the so-called new North American rural sociology in its different aspects. We pay particular attention to the work of Barkin and Sanderson, sometimes called the "new international division of labor", and Friedmann and McMichael's theory of "food regimes". After making a critical assessment of this theoretical orientation, we move to the "neoextractivist" approach, originated in Latin America academic and political circuits. We close the exhibition with a series of hypotheses and considerations about the impact of the current internationalization of agriculture in the class structures of the different national spaces that produce agrarian goods from a marxist point of view.
