Abstract

MANCHADO, Mauricio. prisiones argentinas I love you and I hate you. Afectivities between guards and prisioners in churchs pavillons and the relationship with enclosure managment in prisions of Argentina. Trab. soc. [online]. 2020, vol.21, n.34, pp.231-240. ISSN 1514-6871.

The objective of this article is to investígate the affectivities built in the relations between prisoners living in the pavilions, churches and guards-prisons occupied by their custody, as a dimension of the governmentality tactics of the penitentiary service. To achieve these objectives, and from an interpretative approach, we recover perspectives from legal anthropology, philosophy and the anthropology of emotions. The analysis is based on empirical data constructed in a fieldwork based on participant observations and in-depth interviews with detainees and guards of church buildings (Evangelical Pentecostals) in jails of the Penitentiary Service of the province of Santa Fe (Argentina). The main conclusion of the work is that the prevailing passions in these affectivities are solidarity, fear and (dis) confidence and that these, despite their contradictions and tensions, come into relationship to contribute to the regulation and management of prison confinement.

Keywords : affectivities; prison; religion; govern; passions.
