OLIVAREZ, Joaquín Ezequiel y FONZO BOLANEZ, Claudia Yesica. Emerging territorialities: between what is available and what is possible. Case of UPPSAN, Santiago del Estero, Argentina. Trab. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.37, pp.99-116. Epub 01-Jul-2021. ISSN 1514-6871.
The peasant communities of Santiago del Estero are currently going through a process of reterritorialization that emerges from conflicts for and on the land. The objective of this article is to analyze the processes of reconfiguration of the territorialities of the Unión de Pequeños Productores del Salado Norte (UPPSAN). For this study, the analysis of alternative uses of state instruments in access to public land and habitat policies that they carry out was considered. The work is based on the systematization of information from participant observations, interviews with referents of the mentioned organization, and information from specialized bibliography and institutional documents. The research shows the intertwining between the different practices and meanings of constructing the territory, considering state policies and local population agencies. A conflictive and complex relationship is identified through which emerging organizational models are being developed. In this sense, land defense strategies, the redefinition of public policies, alternative uses of the law and the deployment of intersectoral networks that seek the construction of alternative social organization alliances become intelligible and inseparable.
