BOLLINI, Gabriel A; ATENCIO, Juan P  e  COLANTONIO, Sonia E. EL hipocono en poblaciones aborígenes de Argentina: Un análisis comparativo poblacional. Rev Arg Antrop Biol [online]. 2012, vol.14, n.1, pp.57-64. ISSN 1514-7991.

This paper intends to widen the knowledge we have about non-metric dental traits in Argentine aborigines, strengthening the bases of dental anthropology in Argentina. The prevalence of the trait known as hypocone was studied in a cluster of Argentine aboriginal adult skulls, composed by skulls series from most of the Argentine territory. The relative frequencies for this trait were determined for the cluster, and they were compared with the frequencies of the same trait in populations from all over the world published by other authors. The affinity hypothesis among populations has been verified by determining the z for relative frequencies. The closest affinities between the Argentine sample and the rest of the populations were found in the Japanese Amami population, the Ainu groups, the Hawaiian and Polynesian samples, and the Iroquois and Peruvian populations. The greatest differences were shown in the African sub-Saharan groups, the North African groups, and the Aleutian population.
