Abstract

PELLEGRINI, José Luis. The Degree of Rurality of Farm Employment in the Pampas at the Beginnings of XXI Century: A Spatial Analysis. Mundo agrar. [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.28, pp.00-00. ISSN 1515-5994.

It was usual in the Pampas that farming population resided in open country. But in 2001, less than half did. This paper shows that the Degree of Rurality of Agricultural Employment varies widely across the region (20% to 80%) and an explanation of its spatial distribution based on the influence of mesoeconomic factors (urbanization, wealth of the farming population and production rates) over the labor transaction, is offered. The explanation takes concepts and methods of the New Institutional Economics. Specific hypotheses are deduced and then they are evaluated by mean of a spatial econometric analysis.
