Abstract

MARTIREN, Juan Luis. The end of the unplowed frontier: The emergence of new rural land market throughout agrarian colonies and its prices in Santa Fe province, Argentina (1860-1895). Mundo agrar. [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.32, pp.00-00. ISSN 1515-5994.

Despite the rampant academic literature about the agrarian expansion in Santa Fe province (Argentina) during the second half of the XIXth century, still exists some lack of evidence on some important variables, such as the rural land market. This paper points out on this aspect by analyzing its emergence and evolution and presenting diverse series of land prices between 1860 and 1895, based on sale deeds. We aim not only to bring new evidence of this phenomenon, but also to generate alternative inputs to reinforce new hypothesis on the analysis of pampean rural land markets evolution

Keywords : Land prices; Rural land market; Agrarian colonization; Santa Fe.
