This paper explores the official strategies implemented by the local government to get resources to build and support the Army of the Andes, and the various fiscal instruments used to achieve it. The analysis of the army's finances let examine the weight of the resources provided by the central government and the ones that came from the local jurisdiction of Cuyo. The destination of the funds is then analyzed through the study of budgets army in order to ponder the weight that had wages in total military spending during the stage prior to crossing the Andes, and on the back, when the army was in Chile in severe fiscal conditions patriots' governments.
