Abstract

This article focuses on the “mancomún” in the current province of Santiago del Estero. “Mancomún” (also called “comunidad de campos” o campos communes o comuneros”) meant undivided property, a type of communal agrarian structure widely distributed in the Rio Dulce area and in the upland area of the province. Based on three examples in the Rio Dulce region, this article returns on three issues pertaining to undivided properties, rationality, membership and internal hierarchy, in the XIXth century
