Abstract

VOLKIND, Pablo. The Buenos Aires farmers and the conditions of access to the machinery in the beginning Argentine expansion of agricultural exports (1895-1904). Mundo agrar. [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.36, pp.00-00. ISSN 1515-5994.

The remarkable Buenos Aires agricultural expansion which developed in the late nineteenth century needed the use of increasing volumes of machinery. However, the process of technology incorporation took place unevenly depending on different economic agents in the various operating units. This uneveness was not only linked to farm size or type of farming carried out; there were also other socioeconomic conditions that took part in the uneven supply of means of production. In this article we aim to move forward with the research of this problem and provide new insights into the causes of socio-economic imbalances taking shape in agriculture. To get into these phenomena, a wide range of quantitative and qualitative sources have been analyzed, especially Argentina Second Census bulletins in 1895

Keywords : Farmers; Agricultural machinery; Agro-exporting period; Buenos Aires.
