Abstract

KISHIMOTO, Tizuko Morchidda. Games, toys and brincadeiras in Brasil. Espac. blanco, Ser. indagaciones [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.1. ISSN 1515-9485.

The article includes reflections on games, toys and play of children, youth and adults in Brazil. It discusses the specifics of playing, the difference between traditional and popular play, as well as that of different generations of those participating in the play. It highlights children's play in a country with continental dimensions, added to the multiculturalism that characterizes it, showing similarities and differences in playful practice. The animal game (a numbers game) created in Rio de Janeiro, which is considered a misdemeanor, relates numbers, animals and hunches, giving playing adults the chance to imagine and create. The hybridity of today's play culture reveals the closeness of traditional play among the youth from different countries, reflecting both preservation and change, the protagonism of the players with the subjects' local color and identity, making the structure of play remain unchanged.

Keywords : game; toy; child; youth; adult.
