Abstract

DONAIRE, Ricardo. Who get access to private education in Argentina?. Espac. blanco, Ser. indagaciones [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.2, pp.151-171. ISSN 1515-9485.

One of the traditional forms of discrimination in the educational system in Argentina has been the restricted and differential access to educational institutions underprivate management (generally fee-based, in contrast to the free nature of education under state management). However and partly associated with the expansion of the educational system, the image of a wider access to private education even including considerable poor strata of the population has appeared in public debate in recent years. The exercise presented here seeks, by using processed data from official statistics on urban population for the year 2010, an approach to the way in which different social strata and groups access to education, and more specifically the extent to which private education preserves or not its limited character.

Keywords : educational system; social structure.
