In the present paper, we provide a reflection upon the field of Education for Communication, bearing in mind our systematization of it, and from which we consider three central concepts. Firstly, about the theoretical incidence that the Sciences in Education and the Sciences in Communication have in the field; trying this way to establish the central importance from where reflection is oriented and action is based. Secondly, we deal with the themes and central contributions this field provides, especially about the relevance that the education of questioning individuals facing the technological means acquires. This occurs in the context of a reality where the multiplication of technologies and the cultural/technological convergences (transmedia) make the ‘formative spaces’ increase more and more, shaping subjectivities and, making it more necessary to have the tools, strategies and attitudes to assimilate the circulating information in structures of knowledge. This has led to consider the Education with technological means as the necessary line of approach towards a critical education. We propose to revise this perspective from the Education for the technological means and the Education for Communication. Finally, we deal with the relations with another disciplinary field greatly related to this frame: the Educational Technology. This is linked especially to the Education with the means/technologies.
