Abstract

DE SOUZA, Aparecida Neri. Academic work at Public Universities - a comparative analyis: Brazil and Franc. Espac. blanco, Ser. indagaciones [online]. 2017, vol.27, n.1, pp.63-86. ISSN 1515-9485.

This study presents a comparative analysis of the social significance of changes in the work of university professors of both genders in the State of São Paulo (Brazil) and in the metropolitan region of Paris (France), considering the forms those changes have taken in the conditions and organization of their works. It is also an inquiry into the precarious and flexible forms of work and employment of public university professors, from different aspects, and into the role of the State and public policies in the organization of academic work and the conditions under which that work is realized. Finally, it identifies the precariousness nature of that work as a source of insecurity, fragility, and dependency that takes on different contours in the contexts of Brazil and France.

Keywords : Professors; working conditions and organization; public universities; Brazil and France; labor relations.
