Intrinsically, education is not a consumer product; mercantilization is what has transformed it into that. Profit corrupts education and generates inequality; freedom in teaching does not guarantee better quality, but perpetuates inequalities. These statements are developed in this essay, which uses a qualitative analysis of opinion articles of Chilean neoliberal philosophers whose views are analyzed through the critical perspective.
