As is well known, Marx’s works stand -at its different stages- in a conflictive relation with Hegel. But, at the same time, this relation is continuously affected by the development of Marx’s own thought. Considering this development, we offer a Marxian interpretation of the Hegelian system, starting with Marx’s juvenile assertion that Hegel’s Science of Logic is "the money of spirit". Now, assuming that Marx is much closer to Hegel in his mature works, we attribute a new meaning to Marx’s phrase, following the treatment of money in the first section of Capital. This reading provide us new conceptual tools to interpret Hegel’s philosophy, in a way that is supported by Hegel’s own writings.
