Resumen

BANEGA, Horacio. Herramientas para un análisis fenomenológico de la experiencia del chiste. Tópicos [online]. 2022, n.44, e0008. ISSN 1666-485X.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.14409/topicos.2022.44.e0008.

In this work I design a frame of phenomenological analysis in order to describe the experience of perceiving the performance of a joke being told. Based on Michael Barber’s analysis in his Religion and Humor as Emancipating Provinces of Meaning (2017), I deal with what happens within the finite province of meaning of humor. The joke presents the structure of a narrative. The discourse analysis and linguistic semantics have made a relevant progress on the issue, and I will appropriate some of their considerations about the structure of the joke for my inquiry. In the second section, I will aim at taking the perceptive experience of the aforementioned situation as a theme. Since I agree with the philosophical stance that laughter is produced when we perceive an incongruity between two stories that seem to be told in the narrative of the joke, I will connect the experience of perceiving this distorted narrative at the performance with the analyses of Husserl’s temporal passive syntheses.
