ln Argentina there are no published data to recognize the effects of the commercialization process. on animal welfare and meat quality. The purpose of this study was to evalúate animáis handling duringthe pre-auction (download. herding, separation and conrinement in pens). coinparing saleyards which have implemented quality assurance program animal welfare-oricntecl. with those where traditional management is performed, and assess their impact on the welfare of animáis and their potential effects on meat quality. Checks were conducted in 6 saleyard facilities in the province of Santa Fe for 6 months, tracking 3823 animáis. It demónstrales the importance of implementing a system of quality assurance to demónstrate compliance with the requirements of animal welfare and reduce the impact on the quality of the meat obtained.
