Abstract

To achieve Sustainable Agriculture systems, each soil should satisfy the requirements of the plants according to the climate of the place. That Ideal Soil should be able to sustain physically the crops and, it should also allow them to grovv and to accomplish the indispensable vital functions to attain the máximum production levéis through the time. This paper describes the functions and associated attributes that must fulfill an ideal soil in the North of the Pampean Región (Argentine). Techniques to measure soil attributes with the critical limits are proposed, and the sensibility of some of them to detect differences between systems and the tendency regarding to the sustainability of several management practices are also analyzed.
