CASTRO, D. C et al. Raleo químico con ácido naftalenacético, carbaryl y etefón en manzanos "Eva" y "Caricia".: Resultados preliminares. FAVE. Secc. Cienc. agrar. [online]. 2015, vol.14, n.1. ISSN 1666-7719.
Chemical thinning of "Caricia" and "Eva" apples with naphtalene acetic acid, carbaryl and ethephon. Preliminary results Three trials assessed the effect of NAA, Ethephon and Carbaryl as full bloom, petal fall or post-bloom (fruit size up to 10 mm) thinners on "Caricia" and "Eva" apples. In "Caricia" all products achieved the target crop load (5-7 fruits.cm2 TCSA) when sprayed at full bloom or petal fall. Whereas they produced an over-thinning when applied at post-bloom (final crop load < 5 fruits.cm2 TCSA). In "Eva" NAA showed a poor thinning effect in all phenological stages (final fruit load ≥ 7 fruits.cm2 TCSA). Full bloom and petal fall sprays with Carbaryl and Ethephon achieved a crop load near the upper optimum limit (≈7 fruits.cm2 TCSA). Furthermore, both products showed an adequate thinning effect in post-bloom sprays as the final crop load was approximately 5 fruits.cm2 TCSA. Fruit quality and yield were not affected by any thinner applied on any phenological stage in both cultivar tested. It is concluded that NAA, Ethephon and Carbaryl are effective bloom thinners for "Caricia", whereas for "Eva" they are effective in post-bloom sprays.
