The aim of the study is to characterize and diagnose the primary production milk sector of Pilar, Santa Fe, Argentina, in order to evaluate its productive situation and the economic and social impact on the regional development. The data surveyed correspond to the 24 companies of the district, dedicated mainly to milk production. Among the main conclusions is its social impact, contributing to a community of 5,500 habitants, with 37,000,000 liters of milk, approximately 700 jobs and a financial circuit of approximately $ 184,000,000 annually; centralizing their social and economic activities (expenses and marketing of inputs and products) in Pilar district. It is important the presence of new generations, betting to continue in the field, many of them, trained and committed to the company.
