Abstract

CUCCHI, Rubén J  and  PEZZUTTI, Norma E. Brief history of the petrology and mineralalogy of metalic ores in the SEGEMAR. Ser. correl. geol. [online]. 2008, n.24, pp.151-164. ISSN 1666-9479.

This brief history was made to honor all those professionals who have dealt with petrography and mineralogy of metalliferous ores in one of the oldest institutions of the country, i.e. the SEGEMAR (Argentine Geological and Mining Survey), an official entity which is devoted to research and development in Geology. It includes the period since 1904 until the last entry in the Records of Microscopic Slides in 1988. It also comprises the petrography that was fundamentally applied to the hydrothermal alteration and ore microscopy performed in Geological and Mining Prospecting Plans since 1966 until the creation of the SEGEMAR (Argentine Geological and Mining Survey) in 1996.

Keywords : History; Petrography; Ore microscopy; SEGEMAR.
